Dance styles

Check out the descriptions and videos of the other dance styles we teach too - we often have beginner or open level classes in different styles.

Lindy Hop

The most popular and well known style of swing dance today is Lindy Hop. It’s a fun, energetic partner dance with lots of great jazz rhythms and heaps of space to play and be creative.

Balboa

Balboa is a different swing dance from the same era as Lindy Hop. It’s intricate, elegant, and usually (but not always) danced to faster music

Blues

Blues dance is what happens when you want to dance how blues music feels. It’s all about lead and follow, musical expression, and having a dance conversation with your partner.

Vintage Solo Jazz

All the fun of the swing era dances, but without a partner! Our vintage solo jazz classes draw on the popular dances and moves of the early 20th century, with a focus on body movement, improvisation and fun

Tap Dance

The iconic dance of vaudeville and musicals, stomp your feet and make a lot of noise with style! We are not currently running tap classes.

20th Century Pop

We don’t stop at the end of the swing era… keep an eye out for workshops and limited courses exploring boy band routines, 80s dance crazes and more.
